As you go through the game, you can earn dark side and light side points based on how you interact with NPCs you meet in the game world make the "right thing" mild side gains points, then as generally bad deeds lead to points to the dark side. These points will vanish - if you earn 100 points and 100 points lighter side to the dark side and swtor credits, you will have 0 points net. As you make a lot of one type of point, you "level up". For example, if you earn 1000 points net light side, you will become a light level (denoted "I Light"). If you get 2000, you will become "Light II".
The same goes for dark side points. As you level your alignment, you get access to new gear, but also lose access to certain devices. Some devices require an alignment of the light to use and star wars credits, while some devices requires alignment dark to use. There is no real advantage to either side as both sides have the same kinds of machines available. The trick is to actually choose an alignment - you need to use some of the best speed in the game yet, be light or dark, but not to remain neutral.
The other way to SWTOR progress in your class is through speed. Gameplay videos showed that increases in speed are not only designed to offer improved stats but seems to have improved as well. Newbie Jedis will fight with sticks rather than loaded lightsabers, only the upgrade of the real thing later. Another thing I have to mention about the progression of speed and that most players are interested in how exactly the best equipment in the game is won and how the increase in the late match.
At present, there were three methods of outstripping announced: dungeons and raids, crafts, and PvP. There is no word yet on how the three things will pile in terms of quality and swtor credits. We know that players can "critique" in the design (ie a boat version) articles and crafts that are supposed to be a very good. We know that players can earn gear collecting tokens from war zones (much like in WoW), but how well the gear is that we have to wait and see.
There are vendors that provide the PvP epic gear to participate in Warzones at 50. This machine has its own stat is known as "expertise" which "increase your effectiveness in PvP in the game with buy swtor credits. This involves increasing your damage (and healing) and decreasing the amount of damage you take enemy players FMO. This has no effect outside of PvP. Similar things can be observed with regard to the armor players.
